Stillwater, OK – 18 January 2024 – XploSafe announced today a 3-year, $500,000 matching grant from the Oklahoma Center for the Advancement of Science and Technology (OCAST). This grant supports the development, evaluation, and field assessment of specialized sorbents that facilitate the removal of volatile organic chemicals such as formaldehyde, ammonia, acetone, etc., from indoor air.
XploSafe Research Chemist and principal investigator on the awarded project, Dr. John R. Tidwell, Ph.D., had the following to say about the funding announcement: “I am greatly inspired by the announcement of our OCAST funding to continue developing technologies for the capture and removal of odorous and toxic indoor contaminants. This award is validation of our team’s motivation to vigorously pursue the development of commercial and industrial solutions that are mass produced in Oklahoma”.
The aim of the funded project is to optimize and commercialize novel air purification medias, originally researched and developed for NASA’s upcoming Lunar and Martian space missions. These medias, which can be regenerated and reused once saturated, can be tailor-fit to meet the demands of a wide-range of industries, including oil and natural gas, healthcare/hospitals, and military health and safety programs.
XploSafe aims to leverage their existing strategic partnerships with various air filtration manufacturers to streamline the mass production of end products. Industry specific commercial applications will be pursued in an effort to qualify markets and drive long-term revenue into the State of Oklahoma.
